Becca and Ryan. Where do I even begin...? These two found me through a random Google search for a wedding photographer! Honestly, I have no idea how Google connected a couple from Utah planning a wedding in Oregon with me in Gig Harbor, WA, but Becca and I ended up on a phone call, found out that we had many common interests and the rest is history.
Becca and Ryan had spent a good portion of their relationship as a couple traveling. When they got engaged and decided to elope, they chose the Oregon coast because of the stunning beauty they experienced when they first visited. Their wedding cemented it as one of their favorite places and made ME fall in love with the Oregon coast, too! If you haven’t been, add it to your bucket list. Trust me - you won’t regret it.
I drove down the day before their wedding to scout out their chosen location and meet up with their planner, Erika, from The Greatest Adventure for their rehearsal at Hug Point. Expecting the usual PNW clouds and rainy coastal weather (Becca & Ryan even brought umbrellas for everyone), we were surprised with bright sunshine the next day - their wedding day! The two prepared for the day at separate locations and had their first look amidst the trees, with only Green Attic Films and I there capturing it all. They spent time sharing private vows in surreal beauty overlooking the ocean. From there, we took some time for photos of just the two of them before heading to their ceremony location at the water's edge.
One of the most emotional moments was Becca's first look with her dad - it was so sweet and heartfelt and brought tears from everyone watching. They hugged and prepared for their walk in together. Meanwhile, their guests gathered in a semi-circle on the beach and the ceremony began. Officiated by both Becca's aunt and younger brother, Becca and Ryan solidified their union with their feet in the sand and the biggest smiles on their faces - truly some of the most gorgeous smiles I've ever seen!
The ceremony concluded with their guests tossing bits of dried flower confetti at the newly married pair before we headed back to the beach for photos of them as newlyweds, followed by a beautiful sunset dinner and celebration. My favorite moment, though, was when Becca waded into the water, barefoot and twirling in her dress... Ryan looked at her and said, “This is her. This is where she’s happiest.” It was such a magical moment and the perfect sentiment to remember their day by.
